Things to do in Banff after your wedding
The beauty of coming to Banff for your wedding is that it’s a vacation, honeymoon and adventure all wrapped into one. There are never-ending options for things for you and your guests to experience while in Banff National Park.
- Lake Minnewanka Boat Cruise:
We LOVE the Lake Minnewanka Boat Cruise and encourage you to check it out if your wedding is during the summer months. We’ve been on it and the guides are unreal. You learn so much about the area’s history, including the underwater town in the lake. They have sightseeing tours all day long, including a beer cruise featuring local craft bevies! This is a great activity for the day after your wedding with you guests.
- Relax in the Hot Springs:
Banff is home to the Banff Upper Hot Springs, a perfect place to unwind and soak in warm, mineral-rich waters surrounded by mountains. The soothing effect of these hot springs is a fantastic way to relax and enjoy each other’s company. My family always went to this location as kids, and I love taking mine there now. It’s especially remarkable in the winter with the snow falling around you.
- Take a Scenic Drive:
The Icefields Parkway, also known as Highway 93, is one of the most breathtaking drives in the world. Rent a car and embark on a road trip through the Rockies, marveling at glaciers, waterfalls, and awe-inspiring mountain views.
- Banff Gondola
Go on the Banff Gondola. It’s such a beautiful experience watching the mountains from above in total peace as you move up and down the Gondola. Once up top, explore or take in an amazing meal at the Sky Bistro. This is also a great option for your wedding reception or meal after your ceremony. Ask for a seat at the window to take in the best views.
- Enjoy Yummy Meals
Banff boasts a vibrant culinary scene, with various restaurants offering diverse cuisine. Share intimate moments over a candlelit dinner at one of Banff’s fine dining establishments or opt for a cozy evening in a charming local eatery. You can see a list of our favourite restaurants here .
- Stroll Banff Avenue:
Banff Avenue is the heart of the town, lined with shops, galleries, and cafes. Take leisurely walks hand-in-hand and explore the charming streets together, picking up souvenirs or unique items along the way. Some of our favourite shops are the Spirit of Christmas (an entire store dedicated just to Christmas), COWS (for delicious ice cream), Rocky Mountain Flannel Company (locally designed flannel clothing and home products) and Banff’s Mountain Chocolates. There are so many more fun shops along the downtown for you to check out. These are the ones that we head to frequently ourselves 🙂
- Try Water Activities
More great things to do in Banff after your wedding is to experience water adventures. There are a variety of companies that do kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, etc.
- Horseback Riding
Get your cowboy on while in Banff. The Banff Trail Riders is a fun way to experience the outdoors on a trail ride. It doesn’t matter if you have a ton of experience with horses or none at all, these guys will have the horse for you and you will love your time going on the trails.
- Pamper Yourselves:
Indulge in spa treatments and massages at one of Banff’s luxurious spa resorts. A couple’s spa day is a fantastic way to relax and rejuvenate together. The Fairmont Banff Springs Spa is world-class, as is the Cedar and Sage Co.
